Home Parents Association General Fundraising Update

Fundraising Update

We are delighted to tell you that the School Fun Day and the Women's Mini Marathon raised approx €4000 for the school.  20 women took part in the mini marathon joining 40,000 other participants.  Parents met locally to go walking and running in preparation and put in an excellent performance on the day.

The school fun day was very well attended and a large number of parents were involved in making it a success. Parents barbecued, face-painted, served tea, coffee and cakes, ran a book and bric a brac stall and also a teddy tombola.  Shadowplay who are an up and coming Kildare band provided music for the day and were joined by parents who performed a number of songs solo and with the band. A brave member of staff allowed himself to be sponged in the stalls to the delight of the children and the Creative Arts Centre in Maynooth turned up to give a music workshop to the children and donated a new keyboard to the school.

Nails were professionally painted by Beckie English of Becks Beauty Salon, Maynooth, penalty shoot-outs were taken, egg and spoon races were run, a recycling workshop kept the children entertained, Easter eggs were decorated and then eaten, raffle tickets were sold and lots of prizes donated by the local community were won and a wonderful day was had by staff, parents and everyone present.

I would like to acknowledge everyone who helped with these events and say a special thank you to Joan who organised the marathon and to Adrienne who worked tirelessly to make the fun day a great success.

Our next fundraising event is a Bagpack. This takes place in Dunnes Stores, Maynooth on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd of September; if you are taking part please check which time slot you are on. There will be a number of t-shirts available to wear on the day with the METNS logo.

Lastly thanks to the Parent Association committee, who represent all parents and guardians in the school, the Board members, who give their time voluntarily and all the school staff.

We hope you have a wonderful summer and look forward to seeing old and new faces in September.Niamh
