Maynooth Educate Together National School Use and Hire of School Premises by Outside Groups
Maynooth Educate Together National School will make every effort to extend facilities to other groups in the Community. Extra curricular activities will be encouraged and facilitated where possible. Use of the school over holiday periods will be facilitated where this does not conflict with renovations or cleaning. Afterschool activities in which students from Maynooth Educate Together are involved will be given precedence. All groups wishing to use the school will be required to apply in written to the Board of Management. External group use of the school premises for whatever purpose is dependant on compliance with the following directions:

Evidence of appropriate insurance including public liability is provided in writing to the Board of Management (unless the BOM agrees alternative arrangements).

The nature of the activities for which the school is hired is in keeping with the general educational aims and/or ethos of the school.

The standard and quality regarding organisation, discipline and instruction (where it applies) is in keeping with the professional standard of the school.

Where it applies, the quality of care towards and responsibility shown to children involved in specific activities is in keeping with that of the school.

The supervision of children attending extra curricular activities is the responsibility of the instructor/organiser present on behalf of the group/individual hiring the school. This includes the supervision and care of the pupils waiting beforehand and waiting to be collected afterwards.

Responsibility rests with the group/individual who is hiring the school for communicating with parents about:

Starting/finishing dates and times

Cancellations, re-scheduling etc

A contact phone number should be provided to parents

The instructor/organiser present on behalf of the group/individual hiring the school is responsible for:
1. Ensuring that the school’s no smoking status is upheld2. Turning off lights3. Returning classroom furniture to the original setting4. Returning equipment and furniture to proper storage point5. Any necessary cleaningAn extra charge will be requested where there is a failure to adhere to these requirements.

Setting the alarm system and locking the school will be agreed individually with each group/individual hiring the school.

A fee based on current rates and agreed by the Board of Management will be requested to cover electricity, heating and other costs.

The agreed school hire charges are paid by cheque by a single annual instalment, unless the BOM agrees alternative arrangements.

The school reserves the right to use the room(s) for its own purpose, should the need arise.

The BOM will periodically review the hire of the school premises.

The school’s Insurance Company will be notified when the school is to be hired.
