School Today & School Long Ago

Mary visited Elaine's class to talk about school in the 1950's & 1960's. She told the children some stories about her school days in Wicklow. The children had lots of questions prepared to ask her to compare school today and school long ago. It was a fun visit and a fantastic learning opportunity for the children in 2nd class. A big thank you to Mary for visiting our class.

Parent Association Meeting

The next Parent Association meeting will take place in the school on Wednesday 14th September at 7.30pm.

Maynooth Educate Together Wins Top Prize in Parade

Great news Maynooth Educate Together has won the Owen Byrne Perpetual Trophy for the Best Community Float in the St. Patricks Day Parade. The Children, Parents and Staff worked very hard in the preparation and rehersals for the event.

There was a huge turn out of Parents and children on the day. They represented the school in a fantastic and fun way. Well done to all involved and a special mention to Aimee for her commitment and staff members for attending on their day off.

The Trophy is in the school and we hope to have it on display as soon as possible.

St. Patricks Day

St Patrick's Day Parade 2011

We are delighted to be taking part in the St Patrick's Day Parade in Maynooth for the second year.  A small number of parents and staff are busy getting everything ready for the day.  We are meeting at 10.30 at Greenfield Shopping Centre and are near the front of the parade.

The children will be doing a 3 minute performance based on the theme of Environmental Awareness when they stop on the main street in front of the stage.  We are asking you to dress the children in traditional costume or else in brightly coloured mis-matched clothes.  Please move behind the school banner to give the children a large amount of space in which to perform.  The parade will then continue to Tesco car park where the children will be given a goody bag and can then be taken home.

For safety reasons with a large number of young students taking part we are asking parents to flank the children at the side and end of our section of the parade.  This worked very well last year.  Please be aware that parents are responsible for their own children.

We look forward to seeing you on the day and hope you, the children and the community enjoy the METNS performance.  Dont miss it, it's going to be very cute!!!!
