Welcome To Our Second Year

E-mail PDF

Welcome back to our second year at METNS!

All children settled very well in the school during the first few weeks. We have started the new school year with several new staff members. Aimee Stapleton is our new mainstream class teacher. Claire Dixon was appointed English support teacher. Suzanne O’Hurley has joined our staff as temporary learning support/resource teacher, pending appointment of a permanent LS/RT. Alison Monaghan started as Special Needs Assistant.

On 25th September, the School celebrated the European Day of Languages and many parents came to the school at this occasion. We already look forward to future events to be held within our new “Country of the month” programme.

Afterschool activities started in September with drama classes held on Thursdays. Niamh Dowling of Stageworx works with two groups and children are having lots of fun in her room. The Board of Management is prepared to support other suitable afterschool programmes and parental involvement will be welcome.

New computers were purchased thanks to ICT grant, received from the Department of Education and Science. The Department has also contributed towards the cost of furniture purchased for new pupils. We would like to thank all volunteers that have helped with procurement and installation. Many thanks also to parents and staff members who helped with cleaning and preparations for the 1st September.

Many new resources for teaching & learning and arts & crafts were secured during the summer. The School library’s collection of books is unfortunately still rather small due to our limited budget; donations of suitable new/used books will be greatly appreciated.

The Board of Management resumed its regular meetings in September and we plan to inform parents/guardians as well as the wider community regularly of recent and upcoming events. Thanks to volunteers the School has a website at www.maynoothet.ie where you can find the school calendar, school policies, news and additional information. New circulars issued by the Department of Education of Science (DES) are available from the school Principal or at the DES website.

We look forward you to working with you in this school year!
