Mini Marathon - 2nd June 2008
At the start Congratulations to Avril and Karen Rowe, two of our start up group members who participated in this years Flora Women's Mini Marathon. The marathon took place on the Monday 2nd June.

Neary there"The weather was fantastic and we had a great day. We were very happy (and relieved!) to finish in the first seven thousand out of the forty thousand thousand who took part .We are delighted to say that we raised €765 for Maynooth Educate Together."

We did it!We would ike to thank everyone who supported and sponsored us,the general public, the parents, the local businesses- Velosa Fashions, Impulse Tattoo and Inkjet World, our friends and family and finally all the members of our start up group.
Public Meeting - 7th May 2008
Gerry speaking On Wednesday 7th May, Maynooth Educate Together held its second public meeting in NUIM (National University of Ireland Maynooth). This meeting allowed both members and parents to celebrate the sanctioning of the new school by the Minister of Education as well as the unanimous vote in favour of the planning permission given by Kildare County Councillors.

ParentsThe chairperson, Andrea Valova welcomed the many participants and then invited Gerry McKevitt (Educate Together New Schools Officer) to develop various themes concerning Educate Together in general and Maynooth Educate Together National School in particular. Among other things, parents were given detailed information on:


  • Enrolment, on a first-come first-served basis. Offers of Junior Infant places will be send to parent on 8th May. Enrolment is still open.
  • The site where the school will be built (the map can be found below), and issues in relation to Health & Safety. In particular,  a specific area where parents can drop/collect their children.
  • The premises itself, which will be a two-storey building and will consist of 8 classrooms in total. Plans can be also viewed below.
  • Recruitment of the Principal teacher.
  • Pedagogy and educational tools in accordance with the Educate Together ethos and the national curriculum.
  • Size of classes
  • The role of the Board of Management and the Principal as well as importance of parent's involvement into setting up and running the school. Anyone who wants to contribute is welcome to join the startup group.
Gerry's presentation was followed by a Q&A session run by Gerry himself and Jarlath Munnelly (New Schools Officer).

The meeting ended  with the announcement that Avril and Karen Rowe will participate in the Womens Mini-Marathon on the 2nd of June to fundraise for Maynooth Educate Together.  All support welcome!

Public Meeting - 26th January 2008
Maynooth Educate Together held a public meeting in NUIM to provide information about the proposed new school and also to hold a public launch of the pre-enrollment list. The meeting was very well attended and included local and national representatives.
Public Meeting
Gerry McKevitt of Educate Together chaired the meeting which consisted of a short presentation followed by a Questions & Answers session. Many parents in attendance had queries regarding the structure of Educate Together as well as specific questions regarding the initiative in Maynooth. It was confirmed at the meeting that the Minister had applied for permission for a new National School at Rail Park on the Celbridge Road.


Pre-enrolment Following the meeting pre-enrolment commenced with over 50 children pre-enrolled. Enrolment is ongoing for all years up to 2013. Contact the Pre-enrolment Officer for more information.
