Green Code Colouring Competition Winner!

Well done to all the children who entered into the Green Code colouring competition. We had a very difficult task to decide on the winner as the children put a lot of time into making some wonderful pictures and coming up with some very catchy green codes. In the end there could only be one overall winner and the prize went to Sarah in Marie's class for coming up with a fabulous poster and code.  The code - 'Recycle, recycle, recycle is fun, that's how a green flag is won!' - is now Maynooth Educate Together's official green code and will be prominently displayed in all classrooms throughout the school.  Well done Sarah!

Sports Day

Sports Day took place on Friday 24th June 2011. The day was divided into two parts - Non Competitive Sport and Competitive Sport. All the children were assigned to teams and wore their team colours on the day. The day started with a warm up. The children took part in An Obstacle Course, Parachute Games, Yard Games, Gymnastics and Dance Activities. Then time for a little break and play time. After break were the Dash and Spud & Spoon Race. The children enjoyed a picnic, but the weather afterwards forced us indoors with no further events. The children were fantastic on the day. The older children showed fantastic example to their younger team mates and took great care of them, all the children participated and had fun. The children received a certificate of participation and a treat for Sports Day. The Navy Team were the overall winners on the day and they won a special chocolate treat. Many of the Parents/Guardians came along to enjoy the day with their children.

School Today & School Long Ago

Mary visited Elaine's class to talk about school in the 1950's & 1960's. She told the children some stories about her school days in Wicklow. The children had lots of questions prepared to ask her to compare school today and school long ago. It was a fun visit and a fantastic learning opportunity for the children in 2nd class. A big thank you to Mary for visiting our class.
