Green Code Colouring Competition Winner!

Well done to all the children who entered into the Green Code colouring competition. We had a very difficult task to decide on the winner as the children put a lot of time into making some wonderful pictures and coming up with some very catchy green codes. In the end there could only be one overall winner and the prize went to Sarah in Marie's class for coming up with a fabulous poster and code.  The code - 'Recycle, recycle, recycle is fun, that's how a green flag is won!' - is now Maynooth Educate Together's official green code and will be prominently displayed in all classrooms throughout the school.  Well done Sarah!

Litter Picker Class of the Month

Congratulations to Clare's Junior Infants class for winning the Litter Picker Class of the Month award for May! Clare's class performed the best overall in the school in keeping their floors tidy and separating waste into recycling and non-recycling bins. Marie presented the class with their certificate and is now proudly displayed on the Green School Noticeboard. It's great to see that overall in the school we have seen an increased awareness among the children about managing our litter and waste more efficiently. This is a great step for Maynooth Educate Together National School. For more information on how the other classes performed please see the attachment.

We examined classrooms during the day and found that rubbish was being mixed up in the bins and some classrooms could be tidier. We came up with some ideas as to how we could reduce litter and waste and then produced our action plan.....
